Scope of the Project

Our project is designed to build playgrounds in Kasabonika and Webequie.

To promote volunteerism and create community champions while developing playgrounds for children in remote First Nation communities.

To recruit youth/young adults to participate in building playgrounds in Kasabonika and Webequie. This will raise awareness among youth and First Nations communities on the benefits of civic/volunteer service by having the young adults play a major role in constructing the 2 playgrounds.

Interracial participants will undergo training for playground construction, cultural awareness and team building to encourage interracial partnerships and to educate the youth on a process of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

We are looking to recruit a minimum of 6 youth from the city of Thunder Bay and 6 youth from each of the remote communities to participate in constructing the 2 community playgrounds.
